Mistä sukupolvien välinen kuilu todella löytyy
Sukupolvien välisen kuilun olemassaolo on alkanut hahmottua minulle viimeisten viikkojen aikana. Aihe tuli taas mieleeni seuratessani tuoreita uutisia. Olen ollut skeptinen koko kuilun olemassaolosta, mutta nyt olen tullut siihen tulokseen, että sellainen on olemassa, mutta täysin eri paikassa, mistä sitä yleisesti etsitään.
Kuilua on turha etsiä esimerkiksi fundamentaalisista eroista nuorten ja aikuisten arvomaailmojen välillä tai sukupolvien välisestä solidaarisuuden puutteesta. Tutkimukset osoittavat, että nuoren sukupolven arvomaailmaa Suomessa voi luonnehtia jopa konservatiiviseksi. Toisaalta nuoret suhtautuvat erittäin positiivisesti esimerkiksi vanhemmista ihmisistä huolehtimiseen. Sukupolvien välinen kuilu on määriteltävissä siten, että nuorempi sukupolvi elää laillisuuden rajojen ulkopuolella tuntematta kuitenkaan toimivansa omaa oikeudentajuaan vastaan. Ennen kaikkea ilmiö liittyy digitaalisen kulttuurin muokkaamiseen, jakamiseen ja levittämiseen mash-up-kulttuurin hengessä.
Viimeisimmät vahvistukset tulkinnalleni olen löytänyt tuoreista uutisista. Ensimmäisessä kerrottiin, että Ruotisissa Pirattipuolue on noussut maan neljänneksi suurimmaksi puolueeksi, jonka edellä jäsenmäärässä ovat enää sosiaalidemokraatit, maltillinen kokoomus ja keskustapuolue. Toinen uutinen liittyy liikkeen globaaliin leviämiseen. YLE uutisoi vastikään, että Suomen ja Ruotsin piraattinuoret ovat ensimmäistä kertaa yhdistäneet voimansa. Maiden piraattijärjestöt kertovat kampanjoivansa yhdessä vaikuttaakseen EU:n patenttilainsäädännön tulkintatyöhön. Nuorisojärjestöt ehdottavat mm. ohjelmistopatenttien tilalle avoimen ohjelmakoodin open source -mallia.
Kokonainen sukupolvi näyttää ajautuneen omassa arjessaan laillisuuden ulkopuolelle, mikä kieltämättä haastaa pohtimaan lainsäädännön ja oikeuskäytäntöjen ajantasaisuutta. Mielenkiintoinen ilmiö on ennen kaikkea se, että teema on jo muodostunut niin polttavaksi, että Piraattipuolueen kaltainen liike on saanut mobilisoitua valtavan määrän nuoria liikkeelle heidän toivomien muutosten aikaansaamiseksi.
