Kanssa-periaate

Löysin erittäin hyvän ajatuksen Charles Leadbeaterin We-Think-kirjan epilogista: ”The web invites us to think and act with people, rather than for them”.

Ajaus siitä, että me voisimme tehdä asioita yhdessä ihmisten kanssa on varsin erilainen verrattuna massatuotannon ja kulutuskulttuurin logiikkaan, jossa tuotteita ja palveluita tehdään ihmisille. Verkon luoma kulttuuri opettaa tekemään asioita yhdessä, jolloin subjektin ja objektin käsitteet kietoutuvat erottamattomasti toisiinsa. Kanssa-periaate on voimakas ajatus siksi, että verkkosukupolvi on sisäistänyt periaatteen ja vie sen todennäköisesti tulevaisuudessa useimmille yhteiskunnan osa-alueille. Kanssa-periaate on voimakas ajatus myös siksi, että se ei tällä hetkellä toteudu useilla yhteiskunnan tai elämän alueilla.

Kanssa-periaate harvoin toteutuu liike-elämässä. Leadbeater esittää, että huolimatta asiakaskeskeisyyteen liittyvistä iskulauseista ja mantroista, perinteiset hierarkkiset organisaatiot mieltävät asiakkaansa useimmiten kohteiksi, joiden lompakot pyritään tyhjentämään. Itse asiassa koko markkinoinnin teoria perustuu tulkintani mukaan voimakkaaseen ”me-tuotamme-teille-mitä-te-tarvitsette”-ajatteluun. Puhutaan kohderyhmistä, segmentoinnista, asemoinnista, kohdistamisesta, kuluttajien tarpeiden kartoittamisesta, asiakkaiden palvelusta ja niin edelleen. Taustaoletuksena vaikutusvaltaisimmissa teorioissa näyttää olevan se, että tuotteita ja palveluita tehdään ihmisille, ei suinkaan yhdessä ihmisten kanssa.

Politiikka on toinen esimerkki siitä, miten asioita tehdään ihmisten puolesta eikä yhdessä ihmisten kanssa. Politiikka on erittäin ammattimaista. Vaaleissa valitaan ammattilaiset tekemään yhteisiä päätöksiä kansalaisten puolesta. Samaan aikaan pohditaan, miksi nuori sukupolvi ei ole erityisen kiinnostunut politiikasta.

Koulutus on kolmas esimerkki siitä, miten opintokokonaisuudet suunnitellaan opiskelijoiden puolesta eikä yhdessä heidän kanssaan. Oppikirjat kirjoitetaan opiskelijoille ja tärkeät aiheet määritellään heidän puolestaan. Mielestäni opiskelijoiden tulisi kuvainnollisesti kirjoittaa omat oppikirjansa eikä tyytyä heidän puolestaan tehtyihin ratkaisuihin.

Tämän päivän maailmassa ympäristön kantokyvyn loppuminen ohjaa ihmisten ajatuksia ja toimintaa uusiin suuntiin. Toisaalta verkkosukupolven ajatusmallit todennäköisesti murtautuvat voimakkaasti esiin tulevina vuosikymmeninä. Lisäksi ihmisten vaurastuessa yhä uusien asioiden hankkiminen menettää hohtoaan ja itse tekemisen, luomisen ja itsensä toteuttamisen merkitys korostuu. Massatuotannon ja kulutuskulttuurin perinteisen logiikan voikin tietyllä tavalla katsoa olevan tiensä päässä. En usko, että ne sinänsä katoavat, mutta niiden uudelleenarvioinnin aika on käsillä. Arvioinnissa ja muuttuvaan ympäristöön sopeutumisessa kanssa-periaate saattaisi olla hyödyllinen ajatusmalli.
